The exacting demands of today’s world require increasingly advanced reading and writing skills. Daily, we are called upon to make informed decisions about complex issues that affect us all. But in the U.S., literacy trends are moving in the wrong direction. More than half of Americans between the ages of 16 and 74 read below the equivalent of a sixth-grade level.
Planet Word addresses this gap by serving a broad, diverse community of word and language lovers. Through playful and unexpected exhibits, on-site and digital programming, classes and workshops, and special events, we are creating a more informed, aware, and interconnected world.
