Places to Go for Voter Education

In June, I wrote about my difficulty in finding information to help me vote intelligently in our state and local primary elections. I bemoaned the loss of local news sources that used to help me become a better-informed voter.

A helpful blog reader then sent me a great suggestion: Try visiting the website of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters. Based on your address, the website will relay information about who and what will appear on your ballot.

And I learned about another helpful resource while listening to an NPR discussion on civic participation this past week. Appearing on the show 1A, the hosts of the New Hampshire Public Radio podcast Civics 101 suggested that voters check out Ballotpedia. It offers similar information to the League’s website.

I’m happy to pass along those two suggestions. Now, we can not only do our civic duty by voting on November 3, but we can also become more prepared, educated voters by exploring these resources.
