Special Event
The Revival of Hebrew with Gil Hovav
Monday, October 24, 2022 | 6:30 p.m.
$18 | Friedman Family Auditorium
When Eliezer Ben-Yehuda immigrated to Jerusalem in 1881, Hebrew had not been an active spoken language for almost 2000 years. Just 40 years later, Hebrew was recognized as the official language of Jews in Palestine. Its revival was due almost entirely to Ben-Yehuda’s tireless efforts. Join Israeli author and publisher Gil Hovav, Ben-Yehuda’s great grandson, as he tells the story of this unprecedented miracle through the little secrets that were kept by his family for more than a hundred years.
