The Reading League-DC and Planet Word invite educators to break out of the silo and join a dynamic professional learning event tailored to support your work with adolescent readers, from supporting multilingual learners to designing interdisciplinary instruction.
The program will feature a series of mini workshops led by talented practitioners from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area who are eager to share their expertise and proven strategies. Each workshop will focus on a specific evidence-aligned lesson, idea, or approach designed to engage diverse learners and enhance literacy instruction. Example session topics include strategies to support vocabulary development in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, asset-based translanguaging practices for multilingual newcomer students, and innovative family communication techniques to boost reading motivation.
Choose three 20-minute sessions that align with your interests and professional needs related to adolescent literacy, enjoy a collaborative atmosphere, and leave with greater knowledge of reading research and actionable strategies you can implement in your setting the very next day!
This event is designed to:
* Celebrate the creativity and dedication of local educators by providing a platform to showcase their work.
* Build a sense of community among educators committed to improving literacy outcomes for adolescent students.
* Equip participants with practical, research-informed techniques that can be adapted to meet the needs of diverse learners.
