The Reading League-DC: Learning to Write, Writing to Learn Practitioner Showcase

Wednesday, March 18, 2026 | 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

$0.00 | Friedman Family Auditorium

Reading and writing are two sides of the same coin; reading strengthens writing, and writing strengthens reading, but writing is often the most difficult task educators ask of students. While it can be challenging to teach, it is critically important for learning and communicating throughout a lifetime.

Join The Reading League-DC and Planet Word for a dynamic professional learning event featuring talented practitioners from the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, who will share their expertise and proven strategies for supporting writing skill development.

Attendees will choose three 20-minute workshops that align with personal interests and professional needs. Each workshop will focus on a specific evidence-aligned routine, practice, or approach designed to address topics such as handwriting, planning, elaboration, revision, and fluency. Learn more about the workshops and presenters here.

This event is designed to:
* Celebrate the creativity and dedication of local educators by providing a platform to showcase their work.
* Build a sense of community among educators committed to improving literacy outcomes for students.
* Equip participants with practical, research-informed techniques that can be adapted to meet the needs of diverse learners.
