Join Planet Word, in collaboration with the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and Dustin Tamsen, Dyslexia Specialist from the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), for a special informational event to help raise awareness, bust myths about dyslexia, and provide resources to families with struggling readers.

DID YOU KNOW…
D.C. Law 23-191. Addressing Dyslexia and Other Reading Difficulties Amendment Act of 2020 is providing support for DCPS and Charter schools to assist struggling readers, including new screening protocols for K–2 students, dyslexia awareness courses for all public school educators, and guidance on high-quality, science-based literacy programs for K–5. We invite caregivers and educators to join an informational session led by Dustin Tamsen, Dyslexia Specialist at OSSE, to learn about D.C. Law 23-191. During the session, attendees will view Planet Word exhibit content about dyslexia, followed by an expert advice session featuring reading and dyslexia expert and educator Dr. Jean Schedler. The event will conclude with a resource fair featuring materials designed by IDA to prevent summer slide, including board games and fun-filled activity sheets.
