Film Screening: Immutable
Thursday, September 18, 2025 | 7:00 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.
$10 | Friedman Family Auditorium
Join us, in partnership with the Matthew Harris Ornstein Memorial Foundation, for a screening of Immutable. Hot off a sold-out debut at DC/DOX, Immutable is a feature documentary that follows a group of students from the Washington Urban Debate League as they fight to find their voices in a world that too often tries to silence them. Against the backdrop of a city marked by inequality — and in the lingering shadow of the COVID pandemic — these young debaters confront daily challenges that range from housing instability to neurodivergence. For some, debate is a path to college. For others, it’s a lifeline.
Stick around following the film for an audience Q&A moderated by Judy Woodruff, Senior Correspondent (former Anchor and Managing Editor) for PBS NewsHour, featuring co-directors Charlie Sadoff and Gabriel London and two of the film’s young stars.
6:30 p.m. — Light refreshments (Planet Word Welcome Lobby)
7:00 p.m. — Program begins (Friedman Family Auditorium)
