Our brains hold the key to creating a world where nearly all children can become skilled readers. Acclaimed journalist Emily Hanford delves into this urgent topic with Dr. Stanislas Dehaene, one of the world’s foremost experts on learning and the brain. Dr. Dehaene will present some of the latest advances in understanding the neuroscience of literacy, including stunning neuroimagery that paints a detailed picture of how the brain becomes attuned to reading, and will connect his cutting-edge research with sound, practical methods to teach reading effectively, including to those with dyslexia. This event kicks off Emily Hanford’s two-year tenure as Planet Word’s Journalist-in-Residence.
