Embodying Sanskrit: Experiencing Yoga Through Language II

Thursday, July 9, 2026 | 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

$10.00 | Mansard Room

Discover the power of sound, breath, and awareness with celebrated yoga and meditation instructor Aparna Sadananda, PhD. In this immersive workshop, you’ll explore Sanskrit not merely as a language, but as a living, embodied practice through gentle chair yoga, breathwork (pranayama), guided vocalization of the Sanskrit alphabet, and collective chanting of OM.

Experience how Sanskrit’s carefully organized sounds engage the breath and vocal apparatus in distinct ways, offering insight into the tradition’s view of language as a tool for refining awareness. The workshop concludes with an exploration of nada brahma — the yogic understanding of sound as a fundamental organizing principle of existence.

Open to all levels and abilities, this experiential and contemplative workshop includes modifications and chair- or wall-supported options, making it accessible to anyone curious about the intersection of yoga, sound, and self-discovery.

Embodying Sanskrit: Experiencing Yoga Through Language II is the second in a 2-part workshop series. The first event is scheduled for June 25. Attendance at Part I is not required to have a meaningful experience in Part II. For questions or concerns regarding accessibility needs, please contact [email protected].
