DIVERCITIES: Code-Switching Between Worlds
Wednesday, June 30, 2021 | 11:00 a.m.
Code-switching — the practice of shifting the languages you use or the way you express yourself in your conversations — is something that many people around the world do consciously and/or subconsciously as they move through different environments and communities. From Sudanese refugees living in a settlement with 170 other nationalities, to Afghan women navigating the tensions of tradition and modernization, this interactive conversation explores a variety of socio-cultural contexts and the ways in which people use language to navigate multiple worlds.
