Experience the written word as art! Planet Word welcomes Professor Mohammed Bilbeisi to present a compelling lecture and demonstration about the intricate beauty and design of Arabic calligraphy.
Professor Bilbeisi is an imaginative architect, author, illustrator, calligrapher, and watercolorist driven by an incredible passion for self-expression through art and graphics. His drawings and illustrations have been widely exhibited in museums and galleries and published in books, scholarly and trade journals, and commercial ads. He lectures extensively about the topic of Islamic Art and Architecture and has recently published Graphic Journaling, a university textbook that investigates the relationship between drawing and the written word, and Words and Colors, a “dialog on poetry’s connection to the rhomboid nature of Arabic calligraphy.”
