Prepare to be entertained and delighted as Planet Word presents our First Annual JokeFest Open Mic Night. Get ready to witness an uproarious celebration of language, wit, and jokes like never before!

Our talented lineup of professional comedians will have you engaged with their clever wordplay, hilarious anecdotes, and side-splitting punchlines. Kasha Patel will be our host for the evening, while online sensation Lilly Sparks and local comedy gurus Montenegro Comedy will also be in attendance to provide tips to take your stand-up game to the next level.

Don’t forget, this is an open mic event, so if you’ve always wanted to try your hand at stand-up comedy, now is your chance. Share your jokes, tickle our funny bones, and bring the house down with your unique comedic stylings.

Please arrive at 7 p.m. to sign up for a stand-up slot! Sign-ups will be first come, first served. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. There will be a pre-reception as well as drinks available for purchase.

About the moderators:
Kasha Patel is an Indian-American stand-up comedian and science journalist, who brings science into comedy and comedy into science. She is one of the top science comedians in the world, featured on BBC, NPR, and several TV networks. She is well-known for her TEDx talk, “Sneaking Science into Stand-up,” where she analyzed 500 of her jokes to find the best performing punchline. You can see her at one of her Science Comedy Nights in Washington, D.C., or on her tour around the country.

Lilly Sparks is a stand-up comedian, esteemed content creator, film guru, and viral TikTok Star. Known for her quirky voice and doe-brown eyes, she is guaranteed to catch you off guard with giggles. She has collaborated with many big names such as Vice, Giphy, and even Urban Decay. When she isn’t writing hilarious scripts, or talking to herself in TikToks, you can find her shredding every stand-up stage in New York City. You definitely don’t want to miss her & her hints while she’s in town!

Montenegro Comedy is a local powerhouse that’s been taking over D.C. with their perfectly curated comedy shows. Montenegro Comedy has established themselves with their successful show series, Tight Five and The Hot Seat, a show inspired by the hit reality show, ‘Hot Ones’ (lets just say it involves super spicy chicken wings, and even spicier questions)! Randy & Zak, the men in charge, are talented stand-up comedians that know the ins & outs of the comedy biz.
