Special Event
Word Finding, Aphasia, and the Brain
Thursday, June 16, 2022 | 6:30 p.m.
When someone has a brain injury that affects their language, including word finding, that’s called aphasia. Aphasia is caused by breakdowns in the language areas of the brain and the connections between them. This changes someone’s word network and makes it hard to find words. In recognition of National Aphasia Awareness Month, Planet Word is collaborating with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association to host this panel exploring the causes and symptoms of aphasia, as well as the therapies and prognosis for treatment.
