Join in on a special tribute performance by the multidisciplinary arts collective Liberated Muse, celebrating the legacy of groundbreaking author, anthropologist, and one of the most iconic writers of 20th-century African American literature, Zora Neale Hurston! This special tribute will highlight Hurston’s life and most acclaimed works from the vibrant Harlem Renaissance era and beyond.

Liberated Muse is an eclectic troupe of professional artists presenting progressive music, theatre, books, film, and spoken word performance representing the dynamic dimension of the culture of people from the African diaspora. Led by Dr. Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman, the second Poet Laureate of Prince George’s County, Maryland, Liberated Muse highlights the work and lives of trailblazers in Black culture, from Toni Morrison, Billie Holiday, and Maya Angelou to Lucille Clifton, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Nina Simone.
